Mountain Cottage in the French Pyrenees

Cumminges is a secluded mountain hamlet, a place of magnificent mountain panoramas and soaring eagles, only 15 minutes from the market town of Foix. Sleeping 4 people very comfortably, our Pyrenean mountain gite is an ideal centre for all outdoor activities, winter or summer.

Our gite in the French Pyrenees looks out over the Ariège valley onto the Cathar Abbey fortresses of Montségur and Roquefixade and over to Mont Forcat (6000ft) on the far side of the valley. It has it`s own private area and parking space, but we are available should our guests require any assistance.

Set in 3 acres of forest and wild flower meadows our cottage provides a lovely environment in which to rest and recuperate, or to plan cultural and outdoor activities.

Some guests arrive to partake fully in the various outdoor activities (walking, cycling, mountain biking, paragliding, horse riding, canoeing, swimming, canyoning, water skiing, adventure parks, piste and cross country skiing).

Others come to experience the local cultural activites with visits to the pre-historic caves (by boat or walking) local craft centres, working forges,`son et lumière` performances in the open air theatre, and the local jazz festival at the end of July.

Down in the valley from our mountain cottage is Foix, the prefectural centre of the Ariège, our local market town, with lovely riverside restaurants, open air markets, and a splendid castle to visit.

Other guests come simply to drink in the stillness.

Children are most welcome, indeed having children of our own (16 and 12 years old) we can offer some ideas for interesting excursions.
